A Walk In Mosul (part 2)

It was a long time since I went out for a walk in Mosul. These days many gun fights occur in the streets nearby so am avoiding it, and above all am fasting and that make you function at a low level of energy, preferring to stay unemployed. Dr. Wisam told me that he will go to take the board which bears his name from the calligrapher; he will open his new clinic these days and will put this board on the street near his clinic so that people know about him.
I felt happy that I will go out with him, especially that the calligrapher's shop is in the old city, so it was an opportunity to take pictures…yeah..and here are the pictures….

Look at Wisam holding his name in the board…..

This is the word psychiatry in Arabic…

This is his rosy clinic, how nice…

Wisam, he looks like a good and kind person, and i like his office . i like the way he looks out from under his sun glasses when you take his picture...smile. i wish you could be my psychatrist too, Dr. Al Bedri...look out Mosul, here i come...! By the way, does "Al" stand for something like "son" , as in "Son of Bedri"...hope it is okay if I ask that. thanks, t

and he has the required box of tissues, "Kleenex", i see...

a must, as i read somewhere..."we therapists love tears...they mean we have broken through resistance and gotten a straight shot at affect."

never did say what the patient felt though.....

:*-/ tracy (yes, it is okay...)

Is that a massage table...? does he do massage too...? or some kind of reike? or is it just an exam table? the psychiatrists here are sooo "touch me not", they don't seem to understand the "healing touch of the physican"....or they are too afraid of transference going too far in the patient's mind or a million other things...i was just kidding about the massage thing, btw...t

Hello Dr. Saminkie,
Those Mosellian alleyways would be described in English as claustrophobic. Imagine being in the middle of one late at night, and seeing an insurgent at the other end? What do you do? Stay in the shadows? Climb up on the roof?

So, what's this I hear about Mosellian women being the biggest gossips and snoops in all of Iraq?
When women in Mosul go to wedding ceremonies, they don't dance, instead they check out the wealth of the bride and groom's family. LOL.

Any ways, Dr. Wissam looks pleased - you could say he was winsome (a little play on words). Come on, you can tell us, when you were at his clinic, the two of you cracked open a bottle of Arak and got completely drunk. LOL, I know that didn't happen.

dear Tracy, regarding your comment about the "kleenex", yeah i heard something like that from a senior psychiatrist before..and during my first months as resedent doctor in psychiatry i actualy felt my power through letting some patients cry..but then i found that this is really an abuse if it serves no reason..actually these days i don't let people cry, let them be in control during the interview...offcourse sometimes i cannot...and i don't like to use such terms as A SHOT AT AFFECT, anyway...keeping kleenex is important...
and regarding my familly name, AL means THE...
SON OF in arabic is said this way: IBN...like in ibn khaldoun, the one who was of the firsts to write about sociology...
and mister Ghost why you said that about drinking alcohol...i was not to publish your post but anyway...

Dear Dr. Al Bedri,

Thank you for answering my post and for explaining about your name, i found that really interesting, i like to learn about things like that. i think what you said about not wanting to use your power in a wrong way was very kind of you, you see, i can tell what a good person you are and how you know the right way to use your authority as a physican, thank you for being such a kind help to others...and to me.

best always, tracy

i should not have written that about a massage table, that was really wrong of me...an insulting comment, i did not mean for it to be, but i know it must have come across that way . I an so sorry Dr. Wisam. (i still wish you could be my psychiatrist...you radiate (sp?) wisdom and understanding...just like your "junior"...!)

Dear Dr. Al Bedri,

What a lovely thing to say to me, thank you. And imagine, i dream of visiting the Middle East...most people think i am crazy, i think they just don't get it....they don't understand...i think they are all stuck in this "America is the Only Greatest Country in the World" and have their minds closed tooooo tight.

Well, okay, i am somewhat "battie", but not for wanting to go to the Middle East...! By the way, have you asked Dr. Wisam when/if he has an opening for me to see him yet...??? :-)
